A magical and eco-friendly space for weddings
The large stone barn (90 sq metres) and the extension (50 sq metres), are glazed on two sides, providing uninterrupted views down the Irfon valley. Together they provide an ideal space for up to 150 guests for the reception and 80 for the wedding breakfast. Further seating can be provided in the courtyard and a stretch tent can be erected if needed
In the summer months, throw the doors open and enjoy the far flung views and the tree cloaked hills of the Irfon Valley, make use of the open air courtyard at the back, with its dappled shade and babbling stream, and the beautiful wildflower meadow and pond to the front of the barn.
In the cooler months, you’ll be cosy in our beautiful and welcoming space. Sunshine streaming through the glazed windows, and the underfloor heating and thick stone walls keeping everyone toasty warm.

You can hire Nant y Walch Barn and grounds for the day, or as part of our weekend wedding package, which includes two nights accommodation for 14 people in our four neighbouring holiday cottages. See below for details.
You can do as much or as little as you want for your special day and we will be on hand to plan your time and help with finding the right suppliers.
We are licensed to hold registered ceremonies both in the barn and outside in the courtyard.

Accommodation.
Just 100 metres up the road at Cwm Irfon Lodge we have four self catering cottages of different sizes.
Woodpecker, our most romantic, has one king size bed in a large open plan room with a wood burning stove and a view of the mountains. Nuthatch has one king size, one twin and one single bedroom. Kite Cottage has one double and a single bedroom. And Buzzard has a double and a single bedroom.
Woodpecker Cottage
Woodpecker Cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway, with its wood burning stove and mountain views. An open plan cottage, sleeping one couple in a king size bed, it has a small separate dining area and a kitchen. From the cottage a stable door leads on to a south facing terrace with beautiful views down the valley.
Nuthatch Cottage
Nuthatch is our largest cottage and sleeps five people in a double bedroom (with king size bed), a twin bedroom (in what used to be the butler’s accommodation) and a single bedroom. It has two bathrooms (one with bath and one with a shower), a sitting room and large kitchen/diner. The cottage has a stone south facing terrace with beautiful views down the valley accessed via a stable door from the sitting room and with steps leading down to the formal gardens.
Kite Cottage
Kite Cottage is our smallest cottage with one double bedroom and one single. Both bedrooms have views over the garden. There is a small sitting/dining room with a door out on to the stone terrace and an attached kitchen. There is a separate bathroom with shower. Kite Cottage is ideal for a couple although the spare bedroom makes it possible for three people to sleep.
Buzzard Cottage
Adjoins Woodpecker Cottage and has two bedrooms, one double and one single (which can also be used as a twin bed by arrangement). The single bedroom leads on to a south facing terrace with beautiful views down the valley. There is a sitting/dining room with a sofa bed and kitchen and a bathroom and toilet with a bath with shower attachment.

£3,000 +. VAT per day (42 hours - 6pm the day before to 12 noon the day after).

We do not normally offer food or furnishings but the venue comes with a licensed bar and we can offer competitive packages to include a variety of drinks including Champagne, sparkling wine, wines, beers and soft drinks for your wedding meal
For a small additional cost we can provide an excellent sound system (including microphone for speeches) and lighting system with which you can set the mood for the day and the evening.
We can also arrange a tipi, marquee or tent on the meadow in front of the barn to provide that additional wow effect

You are free to choose whichever supplier you prefer or you may wish to provide elements of the wedding such as catering or entertainment yourself. All we ask is that the relevant supplier has appropriate insurance and meets the relevant legislation.
We do provide our own bar though and would expect that drinks brought in by yourselves are limited to the wedding meal itself

next to Nant y Walch we have four self catering cottages providing a total of 14 bed spaces in 10 beds.
There is ample local accommodation from hotels in LLanwrtyd Wells to self catering cottages, glamping and camping. If you would like to enjoy simple camping near the venue and surrounded by nature we can provide that too!

Nant y Walch Barn Terms and Conditions
Terms & conditions of contract relevant to events in the barn (hereinafter referred to as 'the event'). The use of the term ‚us‘ and ‚we’ refers to Nant y Walch Barn and ‚you‘ to you the client.
MAKING A BOOKING
For all events at Nant y Walch, we require a non-refundable deposit £500 (or 20% of the hire fee) at the time of booking. The remaining venue charge (and accommodation charge where relevant) will be payable three months before your event and will include a refundable damage deposit. Payments can be made through our dedicated online payment system, by cash, or credit / debit card.
The damage deposit will be refunded after the vent minus any extras such as post ceremony drinks, glass hire and extra staff. It may also include payment for Nant y Walch staff to carry out additional tasks on the day of your wedding, or as a result of the wedding. The details of any additional payments will be included with a detailed agreement at the time you make your final balance.
CONFIRMING YOUR BOOKING
You may do this by email and once we receive your deposit we will send you a receipted invoice and details about paying your balance
PRICE GUARANTEE
You will be charged VAT on the venue hire but not for accommodation which is a separate business. All other costs will include VAT where applicable. The price quoted will not change unless (by agreement) additional services are requested.
PAYMENT & PRICING
Please note that the venue hire charge includes use of the venue and its bar and includes bar staff for your wedding day. Additional staff time is also included for pre-wedding planning and ensuring your day runs successfully. If you are planning anything that will require additional Nant y Walch staff time on the day you will be asked to cover this cost. Your caterer should take responsibility for serving evening food and cutting your cake. Our staff cannot be responsible for moving furniture or serving drinks or food or clearing plates and cutlery etc unless previously agreed.
If you do require additional staff please discuss with us and we should be able to source local staff for your needs.
Please bear this in mind when planning your budget and the flow of your day and feel free to discuss the likely costs for such things with us at any time.
VARIATIONS TO BOOKINGS
Changes in numbers - It is the responsibility of the client to provide details of estimated numbers attending the event when requested to do so. Final numbers must be provided a minimum of 14 working days before the event. Any increase in numbers after this time will be at the discretion of Nant y Walch Barn.
Should you wish to postpone your event, and you inform us at least 12 months before the original date, then your full deposit can be utilised for a different date (assuming it is available). If prices have increased in the intervening period then these will be applicable.
If you wish to postpone your wedding for a shorter period then 50% of the deposit may be sacrificed at the discretion of Nant y Walch Barn.
CLIENT/GUEST USE OF PREMISES
1. Nant y Walch Barn has statutory obligations relating to Liquor Licensing, Fire, Health & Safety and other regulations. We therefore require clients and their guests to comply with these and to follow directions by staff at Nant y Walch in relation to them.
2. All beverages must be supplied by Nant y Walch unless previously agreed.
3. All food must be served in accordance with HACCP regulations.
4. The removal of food waste and waste arising from the consumption of food is the responsibility of the client. We can arrange this at cost by prior arrangement.
5. Clients and their guests shall not act in an improper or disorderly manner. They shall also leave promptly at the appropriate time and comply with reasonable requests of the staff. If your guests do not leave promptly, you may be charged for additional staff time. Our premises licence and licence to service alcohol cease at midnight.
6. Any damage caused during the course of the event or during your stay in the cottages will be charged. The £500 damages deposit, or a portion of it, will be retained to cover all or part of these costs.
7. Children must be supervised throughout their visit to Nant y Walch Barn. Please note that there is a pond in the grounds.
8. We expect to have to clean thoroughly after your visit, however any additional cleaning which we regard as unreasonable will be charged for.
9. Unfortunately we cannot allow firework displays but we do allow laser light shows.
10. Drones are permitted when agreed in writing prior to the event and operated by someone in possession of a drone licence
11. We ask you to refrain from using plastic foil filled balloons as they are harmful to the environment. The use of plastic straws, cutlery & plates or products made from polystyrene are banned by the Welsh Government.
12. All confetti, table or otherwise, must be biodegradable.
LICENSING HOURS
Owing to our licensing conditions, the bar will stop serving and music must end promptly at midnight. If you wish to extend these hours please give us at least three months notice.
ALCOHOL IN THE BARN
The consumption of alcohol not purchased from the bar puts us in breach of licensing laws. Therefore we ask that you do not bring alcohol with you for consumption on the premises. We can allow the consumption of a limited amount of wine (e.g. half a bottle per person) with the Wedding Breakfast or celebratory meal and will not charge corkage for this (but you will be responsible for the removal of the bottles).
Subsequent to this any additional alcohol not purchased from the licensed bar will be subject to a flat rate charge of £5 / bottle regardless of size or type. This will be retained from your £500 deposit.
If you would like any specific drinks that we do not already have we would be happy to source them for you on the proviso that you may be liable for the cost of any that remain unsold at the end of the night at cost.
If you wish a specific keg to be provided you may be subject to the cost of any remaining (at cost).
Bar tabs are allowed from members of the wedding party when agreed with the bar.
CANCELLATION
In the event of cancellation by the client, all payments made are non- refundable. We strongly advise that wedding cancellation insurance is taken out. In all instances cancellations must be made in writing by each of the wedding couple and will be effective on the date they are received by us.
Cancellation by Nant y Walch Barn
The event may be cancelled by Nant y Walch Barn should any of the following circumstances occur:
1. The venue is closed due to circumstances beyond our control. In this case we will refund all payments made.
2. Failure to pay deposits and instalments as required may result in the cancellation of the contract. In this instance we will not refund any advance payments (please talk to us if you have any problems).
3. Any other circumstances whereby we believe that it would lead to damage to the reputation of Nant y Walch Barn or to property. In the event of cancellation for this reason, Nant y Walch barn will refund any advance payments subject to costs, and thereby absolve ourselves from any future liability.
4. Postponement or cancellation due to a pandemic or other unforeseen National emergency.
ACCESS TIMES
Reservations for weddings are confirmed based on a daily rate and are accepted on the basis that access to the space is limited to the period between 12:00 am on the day before the event and 12 am on the day after the event. Access on the day before the event and the day after the event is limited only to preparation and clearing up and cleaning. If you wish to use the barn for additional festivities before the day of your wedding there is an additional charge. All decorations, food waste, glass and refuse must be removed by the wedding couple before midday on the day following. There may be a charge for the removal of any waste not taken. Any further access to the Barn must be by arrangement.
The cottages will be available from 4pm on the day of arrival. Your stay is for two (or three according to our agreement) nights, and time of departure is 12:00 am. Please ensure all bedclothes are stripped from the beds and placed in the shower before departure.
GENERAL
1. The client shall be liable for any loss or damage to Nant y Walch Barn, Cwm Irfon Lodge Cottages, to our patrons or any item within all buildings and grounds.
2. We will take all reasonable steps to fulfil our obligation in respect of any event, to the best of our ability and in accordance with the details provided, but we reserve the right to provide alternative services of at least the equivalent standard and at no additional cost to the client. Any reasonable alternative will be considered as a fulfilment of this contract.
3. Notwithstanding the above terms and conditions, Nant y Walch Barn will not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations to you the client in whole or in part as a result of any of the following circumstances:
Strikes or industrial action,
· Flood,
· Act of God,
· Fire,
· Civil Commotion,
· Failure of service,
· Pandemic
1. We reserve the right to add any new or additional tax imposed by lawful authority, which was not known at the time the contract was made.
2. Any form of entertainment, booked by the client, for any event held at Nant y Walch will be entirely the responsibility of the client. We will require a copy of their public liability insurance.
3. We would strongly advise you to take out adequate Wedding Plan Insurance for your wedding bookings, in the event that one of the above clauses being brought into effect either by you, by us, or enforced Government restrictions.
